Pear Body: Emphasis is on the waist!

The pear Body shape is the most common female body shape. Hips and backside are wider than shoulders and bust. Pear body characteristics are:

  • Wider hips and thighs (Wider bottom)
  • Narrower shoulders
  • A defined waist
  • Smaller bust

You need to balance your top half with your lower half by wearing clothes that make your shoulders look broader. So remember “top and bottom balance” when choosing clothes. You should focus attention on the upper half of your body by wearing fitted and slim tops. Wide is great, so keep the hem of the skirst and pants WIDE.

DRESSES: The style challenge is to find dresses that fits your tiny waist and you wider hips. Fit and flare dress (with nipped-in waist and fuller skirt). Shirtdress. Wrap-dress. Empire-waist dress. show of your shoulders and waist in strapless dresses and halter neck dresses.

TOPS & BLAZERS: Look for fitted tops that finish on your hips to emphasize your well-defined waist and draw attention to top half of your body. Fitted tops with bright colour, details and bold patterns. Tops with with wider necklines such as cowl necks, bateau, squared, off the shoulder, wide v or u neck. Tops with structured shoulders, princess or flutter sleeves. Wrap shirts with wide neckline. Jackets with full or structured shoulders, nipped in waist with hip length.

SKIRT & PANTS: A-lined skirts. Tulip skirts. Pants that fall straight from the widest part of your hip, such as bootcut and trousers cut jeans.

SWIM SUIT: The key is to balance your body. Light colored or bold patterned with wide-set straps tops or halter tops. Darker colored, moderate coverage bottoms with a higher cut leg.
